Founded in 1973 under the name of Officine Meccaniche Tonel (O.M.T.) as a small workshop, today Meccanica Tonel Sergio Srl (MTS) is a second-generation, big family company with long-standing expertise.

We are specialized in providing our customers with a full service: from raw materials procurement in steel works to product assembly. Every step of the production cycle is managed internally.

Over the past few decades, thanks to a cutting-edge technological know-how, we have become a key player in the sector at the national and international level.

Continuous targeted investments and our clear vision for the future have enabled us to progressively expand our production capacity, properly meeting the increasingly specific requirements of a constantly evolving market.

Our three production plants cover a floor area of around 12,000 m2 and a forecourt of around 50,000 m2

MILESTONES

1973

That was when Sergio Tonel founded OMT (Officine Meccaniche Tonel) – his small workshop. Equipped with little traditional machinery, it laid the foundations for a family company that quickly became a reality with a clear vision for the future.

1985

Building on OMT, Meccanica Tonel Sergio Srl was founded. Targeted investments and a real passion for one’s work enabled a small workshop to become a fully-fledged key player in the sector.

2001

To meet exponential growth, the machining plant expanded to around 3,000 m2. The company upgraded its machine fleet by integrating new CNC machining systems and carpentry technologies, including welding robots as well as laser and flame cutting machines. Thereby, the production capacity of MTS increased.

2011

MTS was certified UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 (environmental certification)

2014

MTS was certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 (quality certification)

2016

MTS was certified UNI EN ISO 3834-2:2021 (welding certification) and EN 1090-1:2009 + A1:2011 (ministerial infrastructure certification)

2018

To meet the growing market demand and internally manage the entire production cycle, MTS invested in a second plant. This new plant was dedicated to the departments of cutting, manual and automatic welding, sandblasting, and liquid coating.

2019

MTS entered the Austrian market and became one of the leading suppliers to a global leader in the earthmoving sector.

2020

Thanks to the expertise acquired, MTS became the supplier of new bases for truck-mounted cranes to one of the leading OEM companies, thus entering the Material Handling market.

2023

MTS registered the highest increase in its history, which justified the building of the third plant. Thanks to new storage spaces for materials and semi-finished products, the production capacity increased by 30%.

The cutting and welding departments were equipped with new technologies and systems to meet the growing complexity of products, considerably improving production times.
